Arsenal 1-2 Brighton | Premier League highlights | Dec 5, 2019

We were beaten by Brighton on another frustrating night at Emirates Stadium.

In Freddie Ljungberg’s first home match in charge since becoming our interim head coach, we made a bright start – but soon the visitors started to take control.

Neal Maupay fired one shot across the face of goal that somehow evaded the foot of Aaron Connolly, before Bern Leno was called into action to deny the former after he took aim from distance.

Our goalkeeper was called upon again soon afterwards to palm away Davy Propper’s shot, but two minutes later the Seagulls took the lead when Adam Webster poked in after a scramble in the area.

Joe Willock had a close-range header saved by Mat Ryan before the interval, but having been unable to make the breakthrough, Ljungberg brought on Nicolas Pepe for the second half.

We needed more, and we soon got it as Alex Lacazette equalised, meeting a corner and send a looping header to the back post where it just crept in.

Game on.

The crowd responded as we continued to drive forward and threaten, although Brighton were dangerous on the break and we were again indebted to Leno as he denied Maupay from close range.

David Luiz soon had a goal disallowed for offside after a VAR check, before the visitors retook the lead when Mooy crossed for Maupay to head into the far corner.

Gabriel Martinelli came close with a glancing header than Mat Ryan did well to palm away as the game neared stoppage time, while Nicolas Pepe saw a free kick fly inches wide.

But there was no way through, and our winless run in the Premier League extended to nine games.

  1. Arsenal went from a top side under wenger to a side that folds very easily .the arsenal faithful and the owners are responsible for this .arsenal was a top 4 side in the premier league and even business was good and I think it had a very big global following now after arsene was sent away that enthusiasm has just died down.i hope as a fan that things can turn around but freddy is not the man for this zidane or mourinho will be ideal

  2. well lets talk arsenal my 6 year old god brother is better than your whole defence i love spending 80 mil on maguire who can actully tackle than nothing on david luis whos shocking

  3. Josh and Stan Kroenke congratulations you have destroyed a great club. This isn't the NFL we can get relegated you know. You dumb entitled billionaires think you can just take something that means so much to millions of people and just use it to enrich yourself. You don't need anymore money. But we need Arsenal to perform.

  4. Boy, Xhaka and David are really bad. Poor Torreira can't be in different places at the same time, and Pepe was ridiculous in the second goal for BHA, he would keep following that runner even out of the pitch.

  5. It was easy to say wenger out or emery out because it's only one name. Now these arsenal so callled fans are silent, probably because they are lazy to type these names, xhaka, aubameyang, ozil, sokratis, luiz, bellerin, mustafi, mhkitaryan and the kroenkes NEED TO GO! Wenger and Emery was never the issue, the players and the deadbeat owners were the real problem!

  6. biggest problem at arsenal are the bulk of match going fans and the narcissists on arsenal twitter..what do you expect from the players when they play at a funeral home and after the match they are hurled abuse on social media platforms. i'l support this club even if they are relegated or without trophies for decades. can you?
looking forward to the next game and hoping a win for the arsenal. COYG
